Marquetry Artwork

This marquetry artwork was created approximately 35 years ago in the same collection (Art of Wood and Seashell). The construction process took nearly two years to complete.
This piece combines the arts of marquetry (wood cutting with a fretsaw), inlay work, and seashell art (natural seashells).
The marquetry execution of this artwork is masterful, skillful, and highly detailed. In some cases, a magnifying glass is needed to better observe its intricacies and subtleties.
Various types of wood, such as walnut, jujube, pear, oleaster, karat, orange, and more, were used in this marquetry. Despite this diversity, the selection, arrangement, and cutting of the woods are precise and principled, resulting in a mature and flawless color combination. In artistic terms, the artwork is “alive” and has a “soul.”
The use of seashells in this artwork has not only significantly enhanced its beauty but also created a unique masterpiece.
